Bower Consignment Policy & Agreement
Selling goods ‘on consignment’ is only open to members of the Bower Reuse and Repair Centre
Cooperative Ltd. In particular members who have completed their eight (8) hours voluntary
service, (or in some discretionary circumstances where the member agrees to forfeit $124.00 of
their takings, as a portion of their first few consignment goods, to compensate for lack of
volunteering.) This applies to the intake of new goods for consignment sale.
The Bower will sell, on a consignment basis, at a charge of 30% of the nominated sales price.
The consignee member retains 70% of the sold price.
A designated area will be set aside in the Bower for items sold on consignment.
Items must have been repaired, restored or re-invented with reused components. (These
goods are to reflect the re-use and repair ethos, including minimizing waste, and sustainable
manufacture. It is preferable that a photo be supplied of products in the condition they were
in «before» being fixed, for educational purposes.)
Prior to first sale, active members must:
a) register with the consignment co-ordinator their full contact details,
b) provide a Direct Deposit Authority form,
c) read and sign this policy acknowledging they understand it’s terms and conditions,
d) provide details of either their ABN or a declaration that their consignment goods are
produced as a hobby and are not their main source of income and
e) provide evidence of their membership of the Bower.
Payment for the 70% of consignment sales will be by direct deposit to an account nominated by
the consignee. (See separate Direct Deposit Authority form.) Payments will be made fortnightly
on a Thursday. Funds are normally accessible by midnight of the same day.
We have been advised by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) that G.S.T. does not apply, except in
the case of the supplier being registered for G.S.T.
Acceptance of goods is at the discretion of The Bower.
The supplier will indicate a maximum and minimum price that they would find acceptable, so
there is not constant communication about individual items.
If the goods do not sell within four (4) weeks, then the selling price will automatically be
lowered by the Bower, to the minimum price. If the goods do not sell within the next two (2)
weeks they will be collected within one (1) week by the consignee member. Delivery can be
arranged to the consignee at standard Bower rates.
Goods for sale on consignment will not be accepted if the area capacity is exceeded.
Consignee Members may, at any time, withdraw their items from sale, but only if they present
in person and remove the goods directly from the Bower. They will also be asked to sign the
Consignment Logbook, indicating the goods being withdrawn.
Consignee members, who do not comply with the conditions of this policy, may have goods
refused for sale and may be subject to penalties under the Bower rules.
Any disputes between consignee members and staff, if not resolved to the mutual satisfaction
of both parties, will be referred to the Bower Board of directors for resolution. The decision of
the Board is final.
