Active Membership Provisions
In accordance with Part 6 of THE CO-OPERATIVES ACT 1992 (NSW) a member shall pay annual
fees, work 1 hour per year on a voluntary basis and agree with the Aims and Objectives of the
organisation in order to establish active membership of the co-operative.
To be admitted as a member of the Bower Reuse and Repair Centre Co-operative Ltd, requires
lodging in accordance with the rule the required sum ($11 full or $5.50 concession annually). If
this application is approved by the Bower Board of Directors, members agree to be bound by the
rules of the co-operative and by any alterations registered in accordance with the above named
Act.
By agreeing to join as a member of the Bower Co-operative members agree to undertake to
provide 1 hour voluntary labour each year for the co-operative. (When fulfilled that person will
be an active member and gain voting priviledges).
Bower Membership Benefits
Bower members who annually complete one (1) hour of voluntary labour for the Bower have:
(a) voting rights at General Meetings
(b) eligiblity to join the Board
(c) a $5 discount on confirmation of 1 hour voluntary labour
(d) a $10 discount after 5 purchases of $10 or more
Bower members who annually complete an additonal 7 hours of voluntary labour for the Bower,
have access to other benefits.
With a total of 8 voluntary hours per year, such members may
(a) obtain a 20% on each purchase they make from the Bower,
(b) sell goods through the Bower under our Consignment Policy
(c) after completing a competency induction may have access to the Bower workshop.
