Bower 'Prop' Hire Agreement
The Bower is a unique source household and commercial items that are difficult to find. At
any one time we could house art deco items, art neuvo, corrugated iron, old government
timber bookshelves, and bric-a-brac from a bunch of different eras. From the kitchen sink to
matchbox cars, a never-ending supply of National Geographics and vinyl LPs to 70's lamps
and timber sash windows. Ammunition boxes to welders helmets to Tupperware,
Wedgewood china and . . . . . .
We appreciate that many 'Prop' Buyers and Art Directors are looking to locate such items.
Also, that they often are still in good condition after their prop use. Therefore we are
formalizing our Prop Hire policy to assist the industry in acquiring the use of the unique
items found at The Bower. We will hire our stock out on the following conditions:
1. 'Prop' Buyers and Art Directors, etc. identify themselves as a legitimate business and
provide the Bower with full contact details and their ABN.
2. Items will be hired at 25% of the listed shop sales price, for a maximum of 1 month from
date of payment. (longer periods are negotiable, these periods are normally at an additional
10% [of Bower sales price] per month.)
3. Prop hire is available for one or a collection of items that come to a minimum of a $100
total sale price.
3. Items will incur a security deposit of 100% of the goods. This will be refunded only when
the goods are returned in at least as good a condition as when they were first hired. (For
example a kitchen table priced at $100 will cost up-front: 25% of the total ($25), plus the
100% security deposit ($100) giving a total, initially, of $125. When the table is returned in
good condition, the $100 is refunded and the total outlay remains at $25.)
4. Refund payment will be a direct deposit into a bank account nominated by the hirer -
see Direct Deposit Authority form. Refunds are processed every second Thursday. Funds are
normally available by midnight of the same day.
5. Hire of goods is at the discretion of The Bower. Not all goods are available for Prop Hire.
6. 'Consignment' goods are not the subject of this agreement.
7. Prop hirers, who do not comply with the conditions of this policy, may forfeit their
security deposit. For example if the goods are not returned at all or beyond the agreed
date.
8. Any disputes between hirers and staff, if not resolved to the mutual satisfaction of both
parties, will be referred to the Bower Board of directors for resolution. The decision of the
Board is final.
