About Us

The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre Co-operative  collects and, through it's members, repairs preloved household goods then resells them to the local community, diverting 'waste' from the Sydney metropolitan waste stream.

More than just a second hand store, The Bower is a registered environmental charity and a resource centre for Environmentally sustainable living.

Beyond goods for sale, the strawbale building houses

• An Eco-library - stocked to the ceiling with books and mags on sustainability, open to all

• An Electrical workshop - for repairs by staff at staff discretion

• A Timber workshop - available to extended members

• A Referral Service aimed at minimising unnecessary disposal of goods throughout Sydney.

The Bower is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt charitable organisation and Co-Operative, endorsed as a deductible gift recipient and holds a charitable fundraising authority. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

All funds raised from this process cover the cost of this service, as well as our many educational initiatives aimed at informing the community about waste reduction and sustainable practice.
