Become a Member

As a Co-Operative on a mission, we run on the smell of an oily rag and a whole lot of people power.

Becoming a member of The Bower is a great way to show your support for environmentally sustainable practice and be rewarded for your commitment.

Bower members pay an annual membership fee each August of $12 or $6 concession. Active membership also requires the completion of one hour of volunteering - usually preaching from the hilltops about the benefits of Reuse & Repair culture.

Members will then receive

  1. Warm and fuzzy feelings to deflect the chill of climate change
  2. Borrowing rights to the Eco-library and the extensive collection of books and mags therein
  3. Voting rights at Annual General Meetings
  4. Eligibility to join the board
  5. A shiny red membership card with frequent buyer miles (which must be presented to obtain discounts)
  6. A$5 discount on confirmation of 1 hour voluntary labour**
  7. A $10 discount after 5 purchases of $10 or more**
  8. A 10% discount on all purchases of pre loved goods*
  9. A 10% discount on purchases at Alfalfa House whole foods co-op in Enmore.
  10. Birthday love from everyone at The Bower with a further % discount.

Bower members who complete an additional 7 hours of volunteer work on behalf of The Bower (Think tidying, building, repairing, volunteering for the festival season) receive additional benefits including

  1. The right to feel smug about further contributing to a worthy cause.
  2. A 20% discount on each purchase they make from the Bower*
  3. The opportunity to sell restored goods through The Bowerhaus under our Consignment Policy
  4. Access to The Bower Workshop, after completing an OH&S induction & competency checklist
