A collection of results from the Reuse Referral Service.

In a one year period we logged 1348 callers (NB: the service only operated for 1 day per

week for the first four months)

One average, every caller to the Service had 2.27 cubic metres worth of goods being

offered for reuse.

A  summary of some of the more common product type received or referred were: 824

chairs, 108 doors, 2 boats, 404 computers, 72 fridges, 11 pianos, 180 sofas, 57 bicycles, 143

kitchen tables and 17 sewing machines.

86% of the callers were individuals with 8% coming from businesses. 63% were female, 27%

male.

Over 2,955 cubic metres (including a product’s air space) was been diverted from landfill.

It was calculated that Total goods diverted March–October = 143 tonnes. Over 12 months

this projects to 245 tonnes. We project that this offers a combined cost savings to the 15

participating councils of $14,000

The service now promotes over 1000 businesses in the region, an increase of 537 from one

year ago.
